Erbach is the capital town of the Odenwald, state-approved climatic health resort and centre of the ivory-graving art. The historical residence town of the counts "Zu Erbach - Erbach" offers a worth seeing Old Town, with the imposing baroque castle, old city hall, orangery and pleasure garden, historical town, splendid marketplace, late-baroque Protestant town church and affectionately restored half-timbered houses. The new designed German ivory museum of Erbach presents itself unconventionally and exciting. As never before the figures will have an effect on you, because now they are awake in stage worlds which are designed according to the theme and equipped with a polished light technology.

The museum walk points different facets of the ivory-world art. Experience the special atmosphere of the sacred and Asian department and pursue the way of the ivory boobs in the Odenwald between art and economic efficiency.

Furthermore the museum offers a lot of further information: Material and technology of the ivory boob are demonstrated during everyday presentations in the workbench.

Feel the breath of the history

Behind the thick walls of the Erbacher castle with his neobaroque facades the watches seem to have stopped. After the last look at the medieval donjon and the excess of the door threshold of the input main entrance you enter the ground of past times. Your guided trip through the unique count collections can begin.

 

See and experience, among the rest, the knight's hall with the original armaments and medieval weapons, the armory with the big collection of excellent firearms, the deer gallery with an unusual collection of kapitaler antlers, the Roman rooms with original antique sculptures and the other representation rooms and private rooms of the early family.

From March to October: 11.00 Monday to Friday, 14.00 and 16.00 o'clock, Saturday,Sunday and holidays: 11.00, 14.00, 15.00 and 16.00 o'clock. Christmas week-ends (Fr.-So).: 14.00, 15.00, 16.00 and 17.00 o'clock. New Year's Eves and New Year: 14.00 o'clock. Special guidances are possible after advance notification any time.
