Roter Riesling and freshly harvested local asparagus

Fruity wines grow on the slopes of the Bergstrasse between Darmstadt and Heidelberg, thanks to the 1,600 hours of sunshine the region is blessed with. The landscape is dotted with small vineyards on a variety of soils, with little wooden huts sitting in between. Here and there, almond and peach trees fringe the rows of vines. There are wine education and geodiscovery trails that provide information directly in the vineyards themselves. Between the vineyard sites, a plentiful vista of forests, meadows, castles and villages spreads out before you. In the plains below, asparagus, tobacco and fruit are grown. Why not try some of the specialities such Roter Riesling (Red Riesling) and other Bergstrasse wines directly at the winery, in wine taverns, restaurants or a wine festival?
